Using Voynich Online
These terms set the basic rules for using the public website, creating an account and working in the private research environment.

Agreement
Voynich Online and the Voynich Research Workbench are operated by Helix Intelligence. By creating an account or using the private workbench, you agree to these terms and the research-use acknowledgement shown during registration.
If you do not agree, you may still read publicly available material but must not create or use an account.
Your account
- Provide accurate account information and keep your email address available for verification and recovery.
- Keep your password private and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised.
- Use one person’s identity per account and do not impersonate another researcher or organisation.
- You are responsible for activity carried out through your account unless caused by our failure to secure the service.
Research use
The workbench supports experimental manuscript research. OCR output, similarity results, model suggestions, hypotheses and generated material are not verified translations and must not be presented as such.
Keep source, provenance, licence, uncertainty and disagreement records attached to derived claims. Material research judgements must identify their human reviewer.
Acceptable use
You must not:
- break the law, infringe another person’s rights or upload material you are not entitled to use;
- attempt to bypass access controls, probe security, disrupt the service or interfere with another user;
- introduce malicious code, automate abusive requests or use the service to build deceptive research claims;
- redistribute restricted manuscript, corpus or research material contrary to its recorded terms; or
- remove or misrepresent attribution, provenance, review state or usage restrictions.
Material and intellectual property
You retain rights you already hold in material you create. You give Helix Intelligence a limited permission to host, process, back up and display that material only as needed to operate the service and the research functions you choose to use.
Manuscript images, transcriptions, reference corpora and other third-party material remain subject to their own source terms. Access through the workbench does not grant a new right to copy, publish, train on or redistribute them.
The website, workbench software, branding and original interface material remain owned by Helix Intelligence or their respective licensors.
Availability and account action
The service is under active development. Features may change, pause or be withdrawn, and we do not promise uninterrupted availability. We may restrict or suspend access where reasonably necessary for security, maintenance, legal or source-rights reasons, or for a serious breach of these terms.
Responsibility
The public information and research tools are provided for research and general information. You remain responsible for checking sources and deciding whether any output is suitable for your purpose.
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded. Subject to that, Helix Intelligence is not responsible for indirect or consequential loss, loss of research opportunity, or loss caused by relying on an unreviewed model output or provisional hypothesis.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms when the service changes. Material changes will be dated and, where appropriate, brought to account holders’ attention before continued private-workbench use.
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, while preserving any mandatory rights you have under the law that applies where you live.
